Matthew Dovey
Matthew has worked at the Libraries Automation Service for several years, during which time he has developed a number of software applications for use within the library environment, including cataloguing tools, and Z39.50 client and server applications. He also advises on the technological implications and impacts on future stategies within the Oxford Libraries Services and maintains client contact with a number of standards working parties such as Z39.50 Implementers Group. He has advised several eLib Phase III Projects such as CEDARS and MALIBU.
Matthew has also undertaken a number of private consultancies in information systems
- The Music Libraries Online eLib Project.
- The OMRAS (Online Music Retrieval and Searching) JISC/NSF Project.
- The British Library funded CIRCE Project into integrating on access to community information.
He has also writen papers on

- The Philosphy of information Science
Matthew has also presented at various conference on the Z39.50 protocol and the Digital Libraries and is on the programme committee for ECDL 2001. He is an active member of a number of professional societies including the British Computing Society and the American Society of Information Scientists (where he has acted as chair of European Chapter).
